Frequently asked questions

We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for both our staff and participants. We maintain a Zero Tolerance Policy for abusive, aggressive, or inappropriate behaviour. Any verbal or physical abuse directed toward our team will not be tolerated. In such cases, we reserve the right to refuse service, cancel bookings without compensation, and end further communication.

What is your refund policy?

Life Preservers First Aid has a strict no refund policy. If you contact us at least 48 hours days in advance of your scheduled training, we would be more than happy to reschedule you to another convenient day, or hold a course credit for you. Please note the credit has no expiry date and is fully transferable to another individual.

What is your cancelation and rescheduling policy?

We have a strict no refund policy as there are many fees associated with our partners for each booking. However, we would be happy to reschedule your course or hold a credit on file if you provide us with at least 48 hours notice from the date of your training. The credit has no expiry date and will be kept on file until used, and may also be transferred to another person.

For reschedule requests with less than 48 hours notice from the date of your training, a rescheduling fee of 50% of your course fee applies. Please note that if you cancel the day of your training or miss your course without notice, your seat will be forfeited and you must rebook your course to attend on a new date.

48 hours notice or more = no fee to reschedule
Less than 48 hours notice = 50% fee to reschedule
Same-day notice or missed course = seat forfeited and must be rebooked
*Note that if you are late to class, your seat will be considered a missed course and forfeited

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept online payment through our secure webpage by credit card, debit card, or Paypal.

We also accept payment over the phone by credit card or debit card.

We do not accept payment in person, or in cash or by cheque.

Which course should I take?

Please visit this helpful page outlining BC provincial First Aid requirements by industry.

*Note that Life Preservers is not responsible if a participant registers for the wrong course. We can advise based on your needs, however it is ultimately the responsibility of the participant to confirm their course requirements with their school, employer or governing body.

Please be aware that once a certificate is issued, it is not possible to make changes or upgrade it. Therefore, if you register for the incorrect course and do not inform us of the required change prior to your certificate being issued, you will need to register for the new course for the full fees in order to attain an additional certification. Please always double check your requirements before booking.

If you suspect that you are registered for the wrong course, please contact us immediately.

Are your courses WorkSafeBC approved?
Can I take a Recertification course?

In order to qualify for a recertification course, you must bring proof of your current valid certification to class for your instructor to verify.

The certificate must hold the same title, must not be expired and must be issued by a recognized affiliate within Canada. These partners are limited to the Canadian Red Cross, Life Saving Society, Canadian Heart & Stroke, St John's Ambulance and Ski Patrol only.

Certificates issued by other partners such as St. Mark James and other affiliates are not recognized for Recertification courses.

Can I bring someone else with me to class?

e.g. a family member, friend, child, care aid, translator, interpreter etc.

Yes, as long as the individual meets the minimum age required and has paid for a seat in the class, they are welcome to join you in the training.

How do I book a group training?

We offer flexible options for group and corporate training, onsite at your location or at our studios.

Call us at 604-354-6199 ext 4 or fill out our Contact Form to inquire about group training today.

Are all of your classes confirmed?

Most of our courses run as scheduled, however Life Preservers reserves the right to cancel a course in the event of low enrolments or due to an unforeseen emergency.

In the event that a class is cancelled, participants will be provided alternative rescheduling options.

I'm running late for my class. Can I still attend?

You must attend your full course as scheduled in order to meet the Red Cross program requirements to receive your certificate.

Life Preservers allows a 10 minute grace period for latecomers, however please note that studio doors will be closed after this time limit.

If you arrive after the grace period, you will be required to call the office to reschedule your class to a new date. Our standard rescheduling fees apply.

I've completed my training, when will I get my certificate?

Your certificate will be emailed to you from the Red Cross within 1-3 business days of completing the full course curriculum.

Please check your junk and spam folders for your certificate if you have not received it in your main email inbox.

If you cannot find the emailed certificate, you can also login to your Red Cross account and navigate to My Profile > My Certifications

If you have lost your certificate, please email us with your name, order number, date and location that you took the course.
