FAQ

What is your cancelation and rescheduling policy?

We have a strict no refund policy, however we would be happy to reschedule your course or hold a credit on file with at least 3 days notice from the date of your training. For reschedule requests with 2 days notice (or less) from the date of your training, a rescheduling fee of 50% of your course fee applies. Please note that if you cancel the day of your training or miss your course without notice, your seat will be forfeited and you must rebook your course to attend on a new date.

3 days notice or more = no fee to reschedule
2 days notice or less = 50% fee to reschedule
Same-day notice or missed course = seat forfeited and must be rebooked

Which First Aid courses do you offer?

We offer a number of different courses - see our classes page to see our full range. If you require a Red Cross or Lifesaving Society Course specifically, please indicate Red Cross or Lifesaving Society course beside your name in the registration box. Courses are based on courses registered for and Instructor availability.

Not sure what course to take?

Please visit this helpful page outlining BC provincial First Aid requirements by industry. *Please note that Life Preservers will not be held responsible if a participant registers for the wrong course. We can advise based on your needs, however it is ultimately the responsibility of the participant to confirm their course requirements with their school, employer or governing body.

I'm running late for my class - can I still attend?

You must attend your full course as scheduled in order to meet the program requirement to receive your certificate. Life Preservers allows a 10 minute grace period for latecomers, however, please note that studio doors will be closed after this time limit. If you arrive after the grace period, you will be required to call the office to reschedule your class to a new date. Our standard rescheduling fees apply.

What is your rescheduling policy?

If you wish to reschedule a class, we require an email notification to admin@lifepreservers.ca with at least 3 days' notice from your training date. There is no additional cost to reschedule as long as we have enough notice. For cancellations within 2 calendar days of your training, a rescheduling fee of 50% of your course fee applies. If you cancel the day of or miss your training, your seat will be forfeited and you must rebook your course to attend on a new date.

What should I do if I think I've been exposed to Covid-19 or have symptoms?

For the safety of the instructors and all other students in the class you should NOT come to class unless you can present us with a PCR Test Result for yourself.  A test result from someone that you have been exposed to will not suffice.

If you are able to present us with proof of a PCR Test result, there will be no additional fees charged to reschedule your course. Please note that this exception can only be granted if you inform us before the class. If you do not inform us and simply miss your class, our standard rescheduling policy will apply.

I've changed my mind. Can I get a refund?

Life Preservers First Aid has a strict no refund policy as a lot of effort goes into planning our courses and scheduling our instructors. However, if you contact us more than 2 calendar days in advance of your training we would be more than happy to reschedule you to another convenient day, or hold a course credit for you.

What happens if I miss my class?

If a student fails to show up on the day of training, no refund or rescheduling options will be offered, as the instructors are paid in advance and many of our classes are filled to capacity. When a student fails to attend, they have taken a seat away from someone else who could have attended the class.

I've completed by training, where can I find my certificate?

Your certificated will be emailed to you from the Red Cross within 1-3 business days of completing the full course curriculum. Note that if you are taking a Blended course, you must have also completed the online course to receive your certificate.

If you cannot find the emailed certificate, please check your junk/spam folder or login to your Red Cross account by following the instructions here and then navigating to "MY PROFILE -> MY CERTIFICATIONS".

If you have lost your certificate, please send us an email with your name, order number, date and location that you took the course and we will look into re-sending a soft copy of your certificate within 3-5 business days.

I was given a temporary card. When will my official ticket arrive?

The official tickets are sent out by the Lifesaving Society of BC. As there is a high number of students being processed, this can take a few weeks. The temporary card you were given is valid for two months.

The official Red Cross ticket is emailed by Red Cross usually within 24-48 hours o your taking the class.

If it has been 60 days since your course date, you can follow up with the Lifesaving Society on their website to check on the status of your card.

I don't have my previous certificate. Can I still recertify?

We require at least a copy of the certificate to process a recertification. If you do not have a copy of the certificate from your previous first aid training, you will have to get a replacement. If you took the first aid training with us but can't find your ticket, you can give our office a call to get the details, or arrange a replacement card.

Can I pay with cash or cheque?

Unfortunately not. Our training centres and our instructors do not have the resources to accept cash payments.

Can I drop in to a class without making a booking?

No. All of our classes must be booked ahead of time either online or over the phone, and paid for in advance. Many of our classes are filled to capacity and there is a limit to how many students can be certified at one time.

Can I bring someone else with me to class? (e.g. a family member, friend, child, care aid, translator, interpreter etc).

Yes, as long as the individual meets the minimum age required and has paid for a seat in the class, anyone is welcome to join you to training.

Can I make a booking for more than one person at a time?

Absolutely! If you would like to make a group booking in one of our regular classes, please get in touch with us to check our availability. We are also available for corporate and large group bookings. If would like us to come to your workplace or facility, go to our on site training page for more information.

What is a class merge?

Most of our courses run as scheduled, however, if an instructor is sick or enrollment is low, we may have to reschedule the class or combine the class with a group running in another facility. In this event you will have the option of rescheduling the class in your preferred location, or the option of obtaining a full refund. All of our classes run in the lower mainland and are within a twenty minute radius.

Do you sell first aid kits and/or defibrillators?

We don't have them on the shelf, but can organise them for you. Please send an email to info@lifepreservers.ca if you would like to purchase a mask or a FIRST AID KIT.

What measures are you taking for COVID-19?

We take the safety of our staff and clients extremely seriously.

In order to ensure a safe environment, some of the measures we have put in place include limiting class sizes for social distancing, running Blended classes to reduce time spent onsite where applicable, minimizing contact between participants, and sanitizing and cleaning our studio space and equipment after each session.

In addition, all our staff are required to wear masks and/or face-shields and we ask that all participants bring a protective mask for the duration of the course. If you do not have one, we also have some available for purchase on site.
